Principal's Corner

Greetings Kittitas Secondary Parents, Staff, and Students,

I am beyond excited to start off the 2018-19 school year as a new Kittitas Coyote! I look forward to the opportunity to meet each and every one of you in the coming weeks. This is an exciting time for Kittitas Secondary School with new faces, energy, and excitement. As I begin the process of settling into the Principal position, I want to extend a warm invitation to any parents, staff, or students who would like to stop by for a visit. Communication is the key to the work we do at Kittitas Secondary School, and my door is always open.

This next year, we will continue to build on the strengths of the secondary school’s long-standing reputation of excellence in a community that places a high value on the education of its students. Kittitas Secondary has a talented staff and a supportive community which creates an environment for all students to directly benefit from this partnership. It is my belief that our efforts will support the positive experience of our students so they can flourish, achieve academic excellence, become emotionally and physically stronger, and grow in their talents.

As you prepare for the new school year, please consider the following dates:

September 5 – Secondary Open House from 5 pm – 7 pm

September 6 – First Day of Classes for Students – first bell rings at 8 am

September 17 – Beginning of PLC Mondays – late start Mondays begin

Please note that we start this year at 8:00 a.m.

I also extend official Coyote welcomes to:

Austin Brothers as the new Kittitas Secondary School Athletic Director and Dean of Students. He has been hard at work getting the fall sports season off the ground. Mr. Brothers will also be assisting with general school administrative duties throughout the school year.

Deanne Varnum who will be teaching middle school math. She has been a regular substitute for our district.

Chelsea Leighton who is our new math special education teacher. She is new to the Kittitas Secondary community, so please be sure to stop and introduce yourself.

Tanya Myers who will be our new ELA special education teacher. She has substituted for the district as well.

The 2018-2019 school year promises to bring new adventures and experiences for students, staff, and the Kittitas Community. I look forward to the opportunity to serve you and work towards strengthening the Coyote traditions.

Thank you for your warm welcome!
